Meet The Founder
Lift Up Clayton, Inc. Single Parent Project was inspired by Founder, Yvonne McGarity's lived experience as a working single mom; solo parenting two daughters, and one son. She was inspired by the idea that lots of single moms are often spending Christmas alone with her children on Christmas morning. Recognizing the huge need in her own community, she birthed the Christmas program specifically for Single Parent Families in her area who fall into this invisible gap.
Single Parent Project (SPP) exists to help provide single parents with the support, resources, and knowledge they need to provide the best lives for their children and themselves. Our goal is to build a stronger community through engaging programs and events that promote a positive lifestyle for single-parent families everywhere.
Plenty of them live paycheck to paycheck and often lack the resources for financial stability, especially during the holidays and winter when household budgets get hit the hardest.
The most significant gap for working single moms is a meaningful social and emotional support system. They lack this safe haven of a village, a sisterhood, a place to be understood. A place of like-minded women experiencing the same journey. A place to be mentored and encouraged through difficult life experiences only a single mom knows.
They are the families overlooked as needing support by the community because they are high-functioning and often self-sufficient.
She is the single mom who shows up to work with a smile on her face hoping the school doesn’t call to come pick up a sick kid because she can’t afford to lose time off work.
She often suffers in silence from loneliness and depression because she doesn’t have the connections and social outlets that other moms have with more family and financial resources.
